Supporting Stewardship and Planning

Geospatial products to support Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas was an 8 month long project in which I worked along side the British Colombia Ministry of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship to complete a desired research goal. This projected put all my geomatics skills to the test, engaging every aspect of the MGEM program. With the help of the ministry and my UBC teaching assistants, I was able to develop a geospatial tool that generated reliable and accurate information to assist decision-makers in land management strategies for Indigenous Protected and Conserved areas.

Time Series Analysis and Change Detection

As a part of my Advanced Remote Sensing and Image Processing course I was tasked with conduction a time series analysis for 30 years (23 observations per year) of NDVI raster data. This proces involved calculating the average NDVI value for a region of interest within the rasters and report on the yearly change in values. I was also able to plot the exact year that significent change in forest health (NDVI) occured. In addition, I calculated the net forest gains and losses by year. These results can be reproduced at any scale or region where MODIS data is avalable.

This Lab report shows that I am able to clean, process, and analyze large spatial datasets accuratly and efficiently. It also highlights my ability to draft my own scripts and work with a veriety of R packages.

Coca-Cola Greenwashing Memo

Screenshot 2023-10-26 152215.png

Decision making traps was a short memo I wrote for my Leadership and Sustainability course. The goal was to highlight a sustainability campaign put forward by a multinational company and identify three decision making traps that are preventing success. The Coca-Cola Companies World Without Waste initiative was the target of my memo. I like this article because it shows that i can take a position on a controversial issue. Only given one page, this article also highlights my ability for concise writing in a non-scientific medium.
